Bilateral cooperation with Eurasian competition commission

From the 4th December until the 8th December a delegation of 8 representatives of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia visited the Austrian competition authority. Within the framework of the visit, extensive technical meetings were taking place.

Nurlan Aderlbergenov, minister for competition and board members at the Eurasian competition commission introduced the Eurasian competition commission, which is a supra national commission, containing of the three countries Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia. The main purpose of the Commission is the harmonization of competition law in the three countries, a development of a Model law on competition and the adoption of legal acts that empower the Eurasian Economic Commission to suppress infringements of competition rules in cross-border markets.

During the visit a memorandum of understanding was signed between General Director Theodor Thanner and Minister of the Eurasian competition Commission Nurlan Aldabergenov. With this cooperation the information exchange for case law, legal developments and cooperation with regulatory bodies will be enhanced. Further an exchange for best practices and visits for expert trainings will be fostered.
