The new fuel price tracker launched by the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (AFCA) makes price changes at Austrian filling stations easier to identify and more transparent. Keeping track of fuel prices helps to better understand changes in the market. The AFCA tracker uses microdata from E-Control’s fuel price database, as well as data from the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin.
The fuel price tracker includes:
- Price differences by size of filling station operators
- Frequency of price changes
- Differences between different provinces
- Prices by day of the week
- Differences between urban and rural regions
- Price differences in border regions
The fuel price tracker shows how fuel prices vary in individual regions of Austria and how filling stations change their prices. It also summarises how price changes in neighbouring countries impact on Austrian border regions and on different days and times of the day.
The different prices at filling stations may be directly compared using E-Control’s fuel calculator and calculators of other private providers.
The AFCA fuel price tracker will be published weekly on the website under “Competition Monitoring” as soon as the data from the previous week has been processed. It will continue to be available as long as its publication helps to boost transparency during the energy crisis. The results will also be included every other week in the AFCA newsletter.
