The Austrian Federal Competition Authority (AFCA) was notified of the Acerinox/Haynes merger on 20 March 2024 (BWB/Z-6531).
Following an application for another two-week extension by the notifying party, the deadline for completion of the examination was moved to 2 May 2024.
Due to competition concerns, the AFCA had applied to the Cartel Court for an in-depth review of the merger on 30 April 2024 (for more background information, please see the press release of 2 May 2024).
On 31 May 2024, Acerinox informed the AFCA that it had withdrawn its merger notification. The official parties, i.e. the AFCA and Federal Cartel Prosecutor, will consequently also withdraw their requests for examination.
