Merger Notification - Announcement according to § 10 Cartel Act

On 18.06.2026 the Austrian Federal Competition Authority was notified of the following merger:
Planned purchase process
Motel One Austria GmbH, Vienna, Austria, intends to acquire (directly or indirectly) the operation of two hotels in Salzburg and Vienna which are currently operating under the brand names H+ Hotel and H2 Hotel, respectively (H+ Hotel Salzburg and H2 Hotel Wien Schönbrunn).
In addition, in the course of the transaction, other companies of the Motel One group will acquire from the current hotel operators the operation of eight hotels in Germany (Baden-Baden, Bielefeld, Dresden, Erfurt, Leipzig, Munich,
Münster) and of one hotel in Poland (Krakow) and in Hungary (Budapest).
Activity concerned: Hotels and similar accommodation.

Deadline for bringing in an application pursuant to § 11(1) Cartel Act will end on 16.07.2026.
Entrepreneurs whose legal or economic interests are affected by the merger can bring in a written statement at the Federal Competition Authority or the Federal Cartel Prosecutor within 14 days from publication date.
Note: The intervening party has no right to a certain treatment of the statement and will not gain a party position.
Non-prohibition of the merger
The Federal Competition Authority and the Federal Cartel Prosecutor have not applied for examination of the merger by the Cartel Court. The standstill obligation (§ 17 (1) Cartel Act) ends with effect from 17.07.2026 .
