Dr. iur. Martin Janda held senior roles in various areas of federal administration for 30 years, 18 of which as senior HR officer at the Federal Ministry of Economy. In this function, he played a crucial role in the establishment of the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (AFCA) in 2002, from then on supporting it as representative of the administrative authority, as well as in organisational and legal matters.
In early 2019 he moved to the AFCA, taking on the roles of strategic consultant and Head of the Staff Unit. Martin Janda has deputised for the Director General for Competition since December 2021, and he has been the interim Head of Office since November 2023.
