Two new units for the AFCA

AFCA strengthened with addition of two new units (IT Forensics and Budget)

Budget and Accounting Unit

The Budget Unit was set up in September 2021. It supports strategic annual budget planning and budget management, carrying out related tasks in the areas of controlling, outcome orientation and the handling of various budget-related enquiries.

Daniela Trampert-Paparella has been working for the AFCA since its foundation in 2002. She has also been responsible for the coordination of all budgetary issues since 2015.

Trampert-Paparella studied international business administration at the University of Vienna, and subsequently gained a doctoral degree in social and economic sciences from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, passing both her courses of study with honours. She is a highly experienced expert, not least thanks to various periods of employment abroad, including several years as national expert at the European Commission.

IT Forensics Unit

The Forensics Unit was set up in September 2021. Its tasks include strategic resource planning and participation in on-site investigations, development of strategies and methods for the optimal electronic analysis of investigation results, further development of the forensic laboratory’s security concept, prevention and data security, as well as system and network administration. The Unit is also permanently in contact with other national and European authorities to exchange knowledge and experience.

Kerstin Fachathaler has been working as an IT forensics expert at the AFCA since 1 July 2016. She has been coordinating the IT Forensics team since 1 February 2020. Fachathaler graduated from the Higher Technical College in Pinkafeld and has vast practical experience, also mastering three programming languages. She has completed numerous advanced training seminars and professional development courses, including a XERA administrator certification course.

Appointment of Heads of Unit

Daniela Trampert-Paparella and Kerstin Fachathaler have been appointed as Heads of the two new Units with effect from 15 December 2021. The certificates of appointment were presented by the interim AFCA Head Natalie Harsdorf-Borsch and Martin Janda (Head of staff unit) together with Group Head Gerhard Sieber (HR Strategy and Compliance, and the Payroll Department at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs) during an appointment ceremony.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the new Heads of Unit for the outstanding work they have done for the AFCA in the past, and I look forward to many more fruitful years,” declared Natalie Harsdorf-Borsch.
