Federal Competition Authority

The Austrian Federal Competition Authority (BWB) was established under the Austrian Competition Act as an independent and autonomous authority at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy on July 1, 2002. BWB conducts investigations into the possible violations of antitrust law and European competition law.

BWB is managed by its Director General or his deputy, the Head of Agency.

BWB's employees are bound solely to follow the directives of the Director General and, in case of his absence, those of his deputy.
