European legislation
EU competition law is based on Article 101 and 102 et seq of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).
The most important legal act relating to cartels and market abuse is Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2003. In addition, several block exemption regulations have been enacted.
The rules relating to the control of concentrations between undertakings within the EU are contained in Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (Merger Regulation).
A number of implementing regulations, communication and notices are also in force.
