The Austrian Competition Authority evaluated the development of fuel prices concerning the Regulation BGBl. II No. 186/2012.
The regulation forbids raising fuel prices at particular holiday travel weekends and holidays in order to have more transparent andfairer fuel prices.
For the Evaluation the fuel prices were compared with the product prices (Platts quotations). Changes especially before and during the travel week ends were analyzed.
Results of the Evaluation
- There were no significant quantitative or temporal asymmetries in the price developments.
- The regulation existed in the periods considered a positive effect on the price level in Austria's petrol stations.
