Cartel Law Moot Court 2016

In 2016, the Federal Competition Authority organized the second Cartel Law Moot Court together with the law firm Dorda Brugger Jordis and the European Law Student´s Association. The competition was won by the Team of the University of Innsbruck, consisting of Martin Gassler und Mirjam Egerbacher, the best speaker award was won by Artan Duraku from the team of the University of Vienna.

Eight teams each consisting of three people from six universities participated in the Cartel Law Moot Court. The teams were supported by law firms as well as professors.

Nikolaus Schaller (Cartel Court), Natalie Harsdorf (BWB) and Lars Maritzen (DORDA) formed the Jury.

The review of the pleadings and the hearing took place according to specified criteria. Here, among other things, the presentation of the facts and legal analysis, argumentation, rhetoric, teamwork and time management of the participants played an essential role. 

The aim of the Federal Competition Authority was to raise awareness in antitrust law and strengthen the interest of the students.

The Cartel Law Moot Court will also take place next year.
