Cartel Court imposed a fine on breweries

The Cartel Court approved the application of the  Federal Competition Authority (BWB). Breweries behaved anti-competitively, as they excluded wholesale companies from supplying with draft beer. Overall, the court imposed fines of € 1.11 million.

BWB started its investigations in 2010. Requests of information were sent out. One result was a leniency application, which was rejected.   Subsequently BWB organised dawnraids in two companies.

Evidences for supply refusel were found. As a consequence an application for fine was brought in by BWB at the cartel court. The breweries agreed in the proposed fine.

Decision is legally binding.
