Antitrust Writing Awards 2019 – BWB received international Award for Guidance on transaction value

The Austrian Federal Competition Authority (BWB), together with the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) submitted and won the Antitrust Writing Awards in the category "Best Soft Law" and "Best Soft Law Readers Vote" for their Guidance on transaction value thresholds, which was published in July 2018.

The Antitrust Writing Awards are awarded annually by the antitrust law journal Concurrences  on various categories such as "Best Soft Law", "Best Academic Writing" and "Best Business Writing".

The BWB won the award with its Guidance on dawn raids already last year. The Guidance on transaction value thresholds was developed in cooperation between the BWB and the German Federal Cartel Office.

The Guidance on transaction value thresholds was awarded for “Best Soft Law”  and "Best Soft Law Readers Vote" after a decision-making process of three-month, involving 50 international antitrust law experts as well as readers. In total, 5 soft law projects were prized.

The ceremony took place on March 26th, in Washington DC. The Head of Staff Martin Janda was who represented the BWB, accepted the award. "Transparency is an essential part of our daily work. Our goal is to help companies behave in compliance with antitrust laws. That was also the goal of the Guidance on transaction value threshold", said Martin Janda at the award-winning ceremony.
